For the twenty years we’ve lived here, we’ve loved the wildflowers on the farm in spring. Every year, I look for the red tulip at the entry to the rough road that leads into the farm. It’s been coming back for twenty years: a marvel, since tulips generally finish after a few years. Today the redbuds, hardy native trees, were at their best bloom, with wild phlox and larkspur carpeting the grass beneath them. In one long field, I managed to notice a sunning snake before I stepped on him. This post features snapshots of many of the wildflowers out today (and the snake).
Spring is one of the prettiest times in Central Kentucky. I love the changeable sky at this time of year. These clouds massed overhead today at mid-afternoon.
This year’s Bluegrass Trust Antiques and Garden Show was at the Kentucky Horse Park’s new Alltech Arena, a change from its longtime venue at Keeneland. More space in the new venue allowed for an indoor display of vintage vehicles, which was an interesting addition. I forgot to take a camera, so these snapshots are the best my iPhone would do.
