Foxlily is a blog that set off in several directions at once in April 2010, and then just kept going: travel journal, book list, nature diary, art and pet notes, and photograph album. It’s a wonderfully compact substitute for all those random scraps of paper I’ve scribbled on and crammed into pockets and handbags and desk drawers over the years.
I live in rural Woodford County, Kentucky with my husband, three willful horses, three spoiled dogs, and an athletic black cat who is delirious with the joy of country life following his rescue from an animal shelter.
My daughter, the yarn diva, (http://www.hadleygetscrafty.blogspot.com) has moved into her young adult life in a major city. She’s done well and she’s still willing to travel with me when time permits. Wonderful child. It’s hard to talk anyone else into going on a horse trek in Mongolia.
I’ve practiced law in a nearby town for many years. In other chapters of my life, I’ve been a bookstore clerk, an English teacher, and a horse wrangler. I don’t remember any of those eras very well, except that they were probably less combative than practicing law.
I’ve reached a time in my history where tactful people describe me as “well-preserved,” as if I’d spent the past several decades pickling in brine. The image is perhaps more apt than I think.
